Drawn from the library's renowned map collection, the display featured a diverse selection of illustrated maps spanning six centuries, from Manhattan’s earliest days as the hub of a new Dutch colony to a lighthearted depiction of the city in the 22nd century. Artistic embellishments included dynamic designs, bold colors, novel perspectives, and cartoon humor.

An exhibition of work by a selection of contemporary artists mapped the emotional terrain of the world's most famous and influential urban center, and explored the effect of the city's powerful moods on those who live and work there. Contributing artists were invited to use inventive cartographic concepts to reflect the city's abundant, colliding moods.
